ThisFish wins THRIVE Canada Challenge for top Agtech startup

ThisFish Inc. won the THRIVE Canada Challenge today during a virtual live-stream event, beating out eight other top Agtech startups from across Canada. The judges selected the best startup for investment and global recognition. More than 90 Canadian startups applied to the competition. The challenge was hosted by THRIVE | SVG Ventures, the leading global AgriFood investment and innovation platform headquartered in Silicon Valley, and co-sponsored by Farm Credit Canada and Global Affairs Canada.The finalists included AGvisorPRO, Healthy Cow, Impactful Health R&D, Index Biosystems, Lucent BioSciences, Neupeak Robotics, SoilOptix and Vertité.


The nine Canadian startups presented their ideas before an audience of top agricultural leaders, investors and entrepreneurs. The Challenge is part of THRIVE’s Global Initiative which aims to enable the needed transformations in Canada’s food value chain as highlighted in the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals.The Challenge’s goal accomplishes this by identifying, promoting, accelerating, and investing in innovative early-stage Canadian startups that are creating new and alternative paths for a more efficient and sustainable global food system. As the Challenge winner, ThisFish Inc. will receive USD $15k in travel expenses to participate in a Silicon Valley Startup Bootcamp, an invitation to pitch at the THRIVE VII Accelerator Finals and automatic acceptance as a Samsung Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) Finalist.
