Software Developer

ThisFish Inc. is looking for a dynamic, adventurous Software Developer to join our team. The position is based in Vancouver.

MISSION: To lead the development of our Tally software, a manufacturing execution system (MES) and traceability software for seafood processors and canneries.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing major application features for the software from scoping to MVP to deployment
  • Leading team for on-site installation and customer support for software
  • Analyzing and resolving technical and application problems
  • Building MVP experiments for new product ideas
  • Optimizing performance and user experience across the application
  • Developing data pipeline and analysis systems, including AI and machine learning algorithms
  • Managing technical contractors and channel partners related to software features, installation and customer support
  • Implementing standards and practices to improve and maintain code quality

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in front-end and back-end development and advanced Python and Javascript experience
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
  • Great communication skills and a desire to collaborate with the team
  • Deep experience with building web applications using HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
  • An interest in taking on more responsibility and ownership over time
  • Solving complex and challenging hurdles
  • Experience with Linux, Python, Bash scripting language and Docker (preferred), or a strong willingness to learn fast
  • Experience building and managing teams
  • Experience providing customer technical support and training
  • Analytical, attention to detail, and technical problem solving
  • Experience with enterprise SaaS or manufacturing software
  • Experience with version control concepts and best practices

  • College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Southeast Asia, Latin America and North America

Technical Support Engineer

ThisFish Inc., a Vancouver-based software company, is looking for a dynamic, adventurous Technical Support Engineer to join our team. The position is based in Vancouver with travel to Southeast Asia and Latin America.

MISSION: To lead a remote team for customer support and installation of our Tally software, a manufacturing execution system (MES) and traceability software for seafood processors and canneries.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing team of remote support engineers in Southeast Asia and Latin America
  • Providing first-level technical support to channel partners and customers in multiple time zones
  • Configuring software to address customer needs prior to installation in factories
  • Providing on-site support for the installation of software in factories
  • Escalating bug fixes and customer requests
  • Analyzing and resolving technical and application problems
  • Perform end-to-end QA testing

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with Linux, Python, Bash scripting language and Docker (preferred) and a strong willingness to learn
  • Experience providing customer technical support and training
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Analytical, attention to detail, and technical problem solving
  • Proactive in responding to customer needs
  • Experience building and managing teams
  • Experience with version control concepts and best practices
  • Experience with DevOps (preferred)
  • Experience working in enterprise and manufacturing software (preferred)
  • Experience with client/server application development (preferred)
  • Experience with IoT hardware integration and development (preferred)
